What If....

So today (July 8, 2015) ,
A whole air company grounded their flights nationwide because of their computer system went down for unknown reasons.
And then not long after, trading was put on hold at the stock market because there was a technical glitch
And then, (not heard from KCRA-where I got the other two updates) a bunch of people in D.C. lost power.

So it got me thinking.
Not that I panic suddenly when things happen, but it just made me think...
Nowadays everything is computerized, almost everything is electronic, I mean we even store all of our pictures and memories on phones or online. If we don't know how to do something, we just google it. We have an entire world at our fingertips. But yet nothing is tangible. Almost everything we know/have is stored in this non-existent world.

Now for a minute, imagine that everything electronic, everything computerized and everything online, is suddenly gone. No longer operable. And it's not coming back.
So you think no big deal. But try to put yourself in this situation. Okay, so you can call people and stuff but then, your phone dies, and there's no way to charge it...so you try to drive somewhere, but you have no GPS. You go to pay for something with your card, doesn't work. You go to wash or dry your clothes...washer and dryer don't work. Your hungry, so you go to throw something in the microwave, nope, that doesn't work either. Now yes, these might be lame examples, but the list goes on and on, and yes I realize the irony of posting this online.
But my question is, what now? Can you go back to the basics?
What have you spent your time doing? And I speak to myself when I say this too, think of all those hours on Facebook, on Instagram, tumblr and all those other social media sites. Do they matter now? Does it matter how many friends you have or how many people follow you? What about all your pictures? How are you going to ever see them again? All that time and what have we really accomplished?
In a moment everything could change.
Don't rely so much on one thing because nothing in this world is dependable, everything is temporary, and I do mean, everything. The example comes to mind (probably just cause I have a little ADD) but think of when you are climbing a tree. Now I'm not an expert but you never put all your weight on one branch. You always have one hand on another branch as support, just in case the one you're standing on gives out underneath you.

One day things we thought would be here forever, could just disappear.
No, this isn't meant to be a gloom and doom type of post. But I just ask that we think about it.
We need to balance the things in our life accordingly.
Ask yourself : Is this gonna matter in the future?

You can use that question with everything, don't get caught up in petty things!
Yeah, you might be having a bad day, but you have to know that even that, is temporary.
Maybe someone called you a name or something, but unless you dwell on it, is it going to matter in the future?
Okay, I'm gonna kind of go back on my words right now but,
One of the most defining times in my life was when someone called me a name, and people don't call me names, believe me. The thing that made it so impacting was that they didn't say it to my face, but they had told it to my brother (which they didn't know that we were related at the time) and it was genuinely something that they actually thought about me. And when I found out about it, I knew they were right. I was what they had said. But instead of getting butt hurt and depressed about it, I decided right then and there to change. It took a lot of hard work and dedication but every time I wanted to give up, their words would repeat in my mind and it would encourage me to work harder. Instead of a stumbling block, I used it as a stepping block. I was determined to prove them wrong, and it was their words that fueled me to change my life.

But back to my original topic,
If everything were to crash and burn...what kind of life have we built ourselves? What kind of relationships do we have with our friends and family? What about people we don't even know?
Is what I'm trying to say is...
Don't waste your life away, make it count for something.
You only get one chance at life, so choose your seconds, wisely.
